Now the app won't and quits if you try to download any maps using the app. A pulsing arrow on a blank screen is of no help. I've never had a single issue with it. You don't need a network connection like some other similar apps to use it as long as your phone has a good gps connection. You can easily take pictures, video, notes, and/or audio directly from it to document your adventure and it will save the entire event in your archive for you to edit and upload later. Then, when you can connect to your account, you can easily upload it to your online account and/or share it to social media, text, email, etc. And, yes, it works in Europe as well. I used it during a trip and it worked without question. A really super tool for your hiking/backpacking adventures. You can see where you have gone in real time with no need to wait for an after event download. You can take pictures, videos, sound recordings, or take notes as you hike, etc., and this app will drop an icon on that very spot on the map. Relatively easy to learn, but I suggest a test run around the block in order to get acquainted with it. Ramblr has been my go to for tracking and logging my excursions for over a year. This is the best hiking GPS app that I have used. After trying several different apps I keep coming back to this one for its elegant simplicity. The ability to upload your routes and pictures to a personal Ramblr account is icing on the cake. I have not figured out how they can provide this app for free. I keep expecting a prompt to upgrade for a fee (something I would gladly do as these developers deserve it)<br /><br /><span style="color:red">Ryan Henson:</span> Well thought out app I didn't think I was ever gonna find a gps app that would let you take pictures in the app and then actually let you view them in the app plotted out on the map in the location they were taken. I was using sports tracker but its server has been very inconsistent and it wouldn't always save my pictures. They were also very slow to update. I was also able to move all my rides over. The only drawback is the lack of heart rate monitor support but I always had a hard time getting that to work in other apps and<br /><br /><span style="color:red">Rick De Herrera:</span> Ramblr This app is the greatest!!!
